I'm Kristy Thomas and I'm a mom, early learning professional and a Resources for Infant Educarers® (RIE®) Associate™ from Edmonton! My passion is advocating for childcare excellence, and supporting both parents and educators to make the best of their time engaging with young children. As Magda Gerber said, “Infancy is a vulnerable stage of development, therefore, it's not enough that babies receive good care, the care must be excellent.”
In this high pressure world, stress for both parents and educators is high and the need for encouragement, grace, and a community of support is vital. My intention is to bring people together that are passionate about offering respectful & excellent care for children without the pressure for "perfect". In doing this, I feel, we all will also learn more about ourselves and enjoy this journey so much more!
In my own journey as a mom and early learning professional, I have felt the weight of perfection & expectation, often feeling as though I was falling short. My own insecurities, and expectations often got in the way of being able to fully enjoy each part to the fullest. As I continue to study respectful care practice and engage with others through my work, I have also taken time to personally reflect and learn from my experiences. I was able to see how this journey isn't about all the "doing" but rather, it involves authenticity and a practice of genuine respect for myself and others. As I continue to learn this valuable lesson myself, it is my desire to share this with others as well.
As a visitor here, you will join a community of people that value respect, reflection, conversation, and learning from one another. We will talk parenting, and child development, child guidance and even a bit about our own well being. I will share information from Magda Gerber's Educaring® Approach, and offer personal insights & encouragement for your parenting or educating journey. Soon to come will be opportunities to connect through workshops, parent infant guidance classes, and conversations with others interested in bringing their best to their own practice as well.
As you engage I hope you will find as I have, that it isn't about perfect, or pressure, but that the journey does take some thoughtful intention and a willingness to grow. Together as we stop and take notice what children are capable of from infancy, I know you will see how important a strong start & intentional practice can have.
Thank you so much for being part of this community. I hope that as you engage, you too, will be Inspired by infants!
